Rivals.com, in fact, ranks Vernon Macklin as the 12th best overall player and the 3rd best power forward in the high school class of 2006. Vernon Macklin attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia and was named a McDonald's All-American. In addition, Vernon Macklin was one of only ten players selected for the 2006 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team, which participated in the Nike Hoop Summit.
